Time, Energy & Attention

Time is the greatest currency.

Life is a reflection of what you focus on.

If you want to influence how your life unfolds, understand where you put your energy, how you use your time and where your attention goes.

Your time is an investment.

Your energy is the quality you bring to the time you invest.

Your attention is the point where you focus your energy.

As I have been moving forward on my entrepreneurial journey, I am measuring my success by how much it feels like I am not “working” and how I am just living.

I have made several mindset shifts that have helped me on this journey. Here are a few:

  1. it’s about how you use your time, not putting in the time.
  2. “work” doesn’t have to be hard, but you can still work hard.
  3. there’s a feeling of pride when you’ve put energy into something that deserves your attention.

I have reframed time management as “time, energy, and attention,” which has drastically changed how I approach my day, both personally and professionally.

You need to understand each of these 3 pillars.

If you know where your attention needs to go, you’ll bring more energy to it, and your time will be a valuable investment.

Attention

Understand what deserves your attention.

Be clear on your vision, what it takes to get there and the potential actions you need to take to achieve it.

Connect to why something is deserving your attention, this will make it easier for you to put your energy there.

Energy

Our energy levels vary during different phases and cycles.

Honour how you are feeling and understand how much energy you have.

Direct your energy to where it needs your attention. Be single-pointed with your energy as much as possible; it will help you use your time wisely.

Time

Time is not a renewable resource.

Respect your time and other’s time.

Understand time – if you commit to a deadline, make sure it’s in the realm of possibility. Now you’re in the world of time, you need to make it happen. Know how long it takes to do things and block the time for it. Then, direct your energy to where it needs your attention.

By adopting this methodology for time management, you can ensure you’re aligning your actions with your vision and you’ll be the architect of your life.

Where your attention goes, energy flows.

Time is precious.

I hope this helps.
